Gimp -SAVE +EXPORT by photocomix-resources Gimp -SAVE +EXPORT by photocomix-resources
- a Gimp scrript-fu: Save Original xcf +Export jpg/png Copies for Web-

This script is for me is really a time saver and may be hard to find because is not listed in The Gimp

plugin registry

Allow to simultaneusly

1 save the original as Xcf ,so will remain fully editable
(using other format layers, path, selection will get lost )

2 Save a copy in jpg and/or png format to be displayed on the web ,e-mailed to friend or whatever
(jpg will allow a minor file size, png offer looseless quality and preserve transparency if present)

Original, and copies will be saved with same name in the same folder

#################################################################################################

The script will create 2 new menu command in gimp

File/Save XCF and Export...

To use if you already have saved a previous version of the image as xcf.
will update that and add exported png and/or jpg copies

If the image was not already saved a message will advice of the error

and

thank RobA that satisfied all my requests (and hopefully your needs) with this script

Works well with gimp 2.6 on Windows linux as in Mac

Please do not ask me again how install script:
the short answer is drop it in your gimp script folder,
if you don't know where is it load gimp, go to Edit/preferences/folder/script
there you will see where is...to be exact there are 2 script folder that for extra script
should be that in your user directory...but will work also if you put it in the other one

Didn't know you put it here!
